A brief time after the April fools event, I was getting along well with Alex. We were reminiscing the past we once involved in with our friends and began to talk about staff, plus, the one of the previous April fools events, back in 2006 of which Alex had missed. The staff played a hacker that pretended to be an admin and hack into PC. That was always a funny event to think back on, this was only because 2007’s version was full of nothingness. Not much happened, and most of the members were disappointed it failed. I felt like I was missing out on something if an April fools event hadn’t of happened this year, even though it was over, this got me thinking that maybe I didn’t imagine the event a couple of days ago, and that it was actually real. Alex and I continued talking about the issue for about twenty minutes of so and I thought it would be best if I dropped it myself. Alex initiated a group conversation between him, John, and myself. John was the only other person online, and well, I really like group conversations.
As we were talking I came up with an idea of PC having an affection contest. We all laughed and agreed it would be fun, John told us, he would contact a staff member to see if it would be okay. Success! The staff member replied to him and said it was fine except John would have to host the contest. He was fine with it because he had no current lover that anybody knew of, so it would be good for him. John set up the first page, with our help, and the contest was ready. The rules that were stated were “Only in this thread you’re allowed to display your affection, if it is anywhere else, you’ll be disqualified. Choose your partner and you’ll be fine.” I took this as a chance to get people together than were right for each other. First off, I PMed May, she was offline but she would soon be sure to reply. Many months ago, May and Jae were good friends but they didn’t decide to get together because of personal reasons with May. I entered both of them and I didn’t assume I needed legit permission from each of them so I decided to lie.
The next couple that should have been together were Shayla and Marz, even though Shayla would be absent from the competition she could still post and that via email. I also signed up Alex and I, but that was a no-brainer. A couple of minutes later after I entered a few more, a ‘n00b’ that just signed up decided to post in the thread under the name of ‘Noobsfromstaffluvz’. The person posted “Uh yeah, this’ll be great for the staff to catch a peda-um… don’t worry.” This surprised me, so I took a screenshot of his post before the staff decided to ban him. After a couple of days I forgot about that post and continued on with my life as usual. Despite some peoples’ disagreement of my entering of them in the contest, the contest was going along fine. May hadn’t been online since I PMed her, and two certain people decided to ignore me forever, but that was okay, you make friends, you lose them, and it’s all apart of life. I closed PC and reopened it. I had a PM from some random person. “The truth… the truth of April 1st 2006 and 2007… just keep looking and you’ll see it, but I don’t want to make it hard for you, Nica, so instead, I’ll show you the screenshot since you love them so much.” I slanted my head on an angle as I tried to make sense of the screenshot, it was black, pure black, and I didn’t understand one word. I highlighted it, and then suddenly I could see everything. My subscribed threads from April the 1st 2006 were in the screenshot! There was a link in the screenshot that could be clicked, so I clicked it. The screenshot was awesome, it was a total playback of everything I saw, and did on April 1st 2006. Once I got over the awesomeness of the screenshot, I realised that either a hacker/staff member did this. But the formatting and everything, the program this person used must’ve even been better than Photoshop itself. I saved the screenshot to my documents and started to think about that day.
The day began off as normal; I wasn’t expecting anything, when wham, the screen was black. I didn’t know what was happening until I highlighted the threads, but the skin couldn’t be changed. I did my daily posting, and when I got back from breakfast, I was keen to discover why the forum was black. Veering out of MCG, I lurked around new posts and while I was on invisible, I began to view the various question themes as of why the forum was black earlier. By that time it was back to normal and I had left my favourite skin. I was forced to use Blue Variant with a twist; it had a members name up the top in the main header. The staff members were posting in the many question threads asking the rest of the members to spam this hacker away. It was freaky when I originally thought about it, and a couple of hours later it had all calmed down. I began to then think about 2007’s April fools. Nothing much happened aside from a few DCC’s being deleted and then recovered, not nearly as exciting as the events of 2006. I then started to realise, it was real, it was a joke, yet somehow it was wiped from our minds. This got me thinking about most of my friends now, which had missed out on 2006’s events, and the fake bannings… It was like, in 2008, all the members who once were there, never existed.
