Chapter 3 -- The Police-y Staff [Edited!]
I snuck on the computer as fast as I could on Saturday. Everyone was online, which was a positive for me, who had not had a group conversation for at least a day. Pop was awake, which gave me even more sneak-on-MSN time, as he wouldn’t be walking out of his room any time soon. I was in 2008 but it seemed like 2007… many things seemed the same. Ever since Tali came back, PC, and BF even, was much better for us, oh wait! She only came back yesterday, and I haven’t told the readers already. Anyway, back to yesterday, after I got back from school I went on PC as soon as I was able to. All my friends were on except Tali, who I had long forgotten last December. I was having a group conversation with the usual people I normally have conversations with, plus three random staff members that just happened to enter the conversation... there are a few theories of how that occurred. Somehow, the conversation turned to our past friends. I began to start muttering about when I first joined PC, and the people who I thought I knew. The conversation drifted along fine until Tali got mentioned and it began to die. Since there wasn’t much help of saving the conversation now I refreshed the index of PC and I nearly jumped out of my seat when that small little popup said Tali’s name. I opened up that PM, still surprised as the coincidental circumstances of that appearing today. It read- "OMG. Hey Nica!! I’ve returned after that year or so inactivity, hope you missed me…. WAIT… TELL ALL!" I then just had to open up the group conversation and tell everyone. Nobody really cared, but Alex seemed to be excited. Out of all my friends, he was the most active, who possibly could be the most excited besides me at the thought of Tali. In ten short paragraphs I explained all that happened within the last year, from the April 2007 events to the ones of April 2008. About fifteen minutes later I got a PM back, she started to question what her understanding of April 2008 was, and, had Rene improved grammar/spelling dramatically or at all? I began of the PM "Yup, April 2008, I’ve got screenshots if you would like to see them. Oh, and Rene, yup, he’s changed alot. I shall show you a quote of Rene ‘Okay, and now XD is the best emoticon' strange yeah?” Tali replied back "Oh yeah, can I view your screenshot then? I’d love to see PC have such a minor amount of members. Rene… WOW, he’s uh… different". Since I was busy, I explained to Tali that I had to make banners for the fun of it and since I didn’t have PS they came out crap if I didn’t spend lots of time on them. I did though, have another program by then, it didn’t have a specific name, but God, it was good. Tali replied back to the PM and understood. Once I created the banners I applied the borders and logged onto PC… it did it again, there were no staff, no members. It freaked me out that Tali might actually get to experience it and not hear of it from me. BF was working fine so I went on there instead of worrying about PC and Tali. The plus side of this was that at this time Tali was on BF. I glanced down at the task bar and I saw that I still had the group conversation open. Jackpot, the staff members were still in there. I decided to quiz a staff member. "Um… is PC working for any of you?" John and Alex replied "DBE", while the staff members said, "Yeah, it’s a staff thing, only we can access it, even though it comes up as a DBE". I began to slowly reply and think of the words that would be best used in this situation. "Umm… it worked for me, but it only displays four members on the members list, plus, it says a police watch is currently in action." One of them replied "Uh-oh… crap, we’ll have you wipe your minds." I closed the window as soon as I could, logged off and began to write down everything I could remember about the staffs plot to catch criminals. As I wrote, I began thinking about what they said about the DBE’s. This must’ve meant that all the DBE’s that ever appeared were all a plot to make the members believe that it was a problem with the server and not that they were doing police checks on each members IP. As I realised this fact, I would have to assume that the server changes were to prevent any smart members from catching onto this development. What confused me was how I got access of this data without having to con one of the staff members into telling me. About a half an hour later I tried to log back onto PC and it said “Your username is no longer exists, thank you for your time at PC, but we’re sorry we can’t have you at our forum anymore. Goodbye.” I got onto MSN and asked Alex and John whether it was the same story and again, they couldn’t remember it, plus their usernames worked unlike my non-existent one. TO BE CONTINUED....
